Tyre care and maintenance

Sizing: Choosing the correct tyre is determined by rim width. Do not mount tyres wider or narrower than the original equipment tyres, either of which could negatively affect the motorcycle’s handling.

Break-in: Avoid rapid acceleration or hard cornering for the first 50 kilometers after mounting new tyres. Increase lean angle progressively until the tyre’s mold release compound is completely worn off the tread area.

Pressure: Check only when tyres are cold, because pressure increases with temperature. Never bleed air from a hot tyre. Riding underinflated tyres can lead to premature wear, irreversible damage to the carcass, and possible tyre failure. Tyre pressure should be checked every two weeks.

Valve: It is recommended that you use valve caps at all times. Caps help prevent air loss and keep dirt out of the valve mechanism.

Warm-up period: At the start of each ride, travel a few kilometers at moderate speed. This will gradually bring the tyres up to their normal operating temperature. Once fully warmed up, the tyres will achieve optimal grip.

Wear: Check tread wear by inspecting the wear indicators in the tyre grooves. If the wear indicators are level with the surface of the tread at any point, the tyre should be replaced. A worn tyre can adversely affect the motorcycle’s handling.

Repair: In the event of a puncture, only a professional tyre dealer can properly conduct the internal and external examinations necessary to determine whether the tyre can be repaired.
