Car Maintainance After Driving In RainAdded on:7/23/2009 1:29:25 PM In Car Maintainance Tips Rated by 1 users
After a drive in the rain, it is quite but natural that the car is covered with slush and mud. The car should be cleaned using solutions, for easy removal of the mud stains and the car should be covered and kept in a warm place during the rainy season.
The car should be wiped dry, before it is covered with a dry waterproof car cover, but leave a gap. Special care should be given to scratches that go deep, exposing the metal body panel as it might lead to rust. The seats and other upholstery of the car will be damp and moist during monsoon season, which emits a damp smell inside the car.
The upholstery cleaner should be used as wiping the wet or muddy upholstery with a cloth will not help it to remain clean and dry. Wet clothes can also leave permanent stain marks and it is advisable to clean it with upholstery cleaner, which will not only clean the surface but will leave a good fragrance.
To avoid damp smell inside the car, mild car fresheners can also be used. Instead of the fabric mats, rubber mats will cope with the situation well, as they are easy to clean and will not get soaked and produce bad odor.
An old set of floor mats, if available, could also be used during the monsoon as it could be used and then thrown away after the monsoon. The wheel wells and doorsills should be kept clean always as corrosion can set in easily in these areas.
