General Gardening Tips In November

This is a good time to plan new features, when most of the garden is bare.

Go round collecting old canes and general garden rubbish. Burn anything that might be diseased.

Get ready for the arrival of new trees, shrubs and roses from the nurseries. 

Take out a trench so they can be heeled in on arrival if they can't be put in straightaway.

Dig vacant ground over whenever the weather is suitable.

Go over shrubberies, rose beds and orchards, skimming off the topsoil with a spade and turning it without disturbing plant roots.
