1.Always wear goggles or a face shield.
2.Use a lead-lined or nonmetallic container to hold electrolyte.
3.Always pour acid slowly into water, not water into acid.
4.Stir as you add small amounts of acid.
5.Never lean over a battery when charging, testing, or jump-starting an engine.
6.Always disconnect the negative cable first and reconnect it last.
7.Charge batteries only in well-ventilated areas.
8.Never charge or jump-start a frozen battery; let it warm to at least 40 degrees Fahrenheit.
