.Inflation of tyres: Ensure that the tyres are inflated at correct pressure (30 psi). Under-inflation can add upto 10 percent extra fuel bill.
.The fifth gear: Maximise the use of the fifth gear at speeds of 40 to 45 km/h for better fuel economy. Fifth over drive gear increases fuel efficiency by 20 to 25 percent as compared to third gear driving
.Gear changes, acceleration and braking: avoid frequent gear changes, acceleration and braking through planned driving by looking ahead and judging the speed of other vehicles and timing of traffic lights, etc. Idle engine: While waiting for someone, do not keep the engine on. Three minutes of idling is one kilometre lost! Do not keep the engine idling for more than two minutes while waiting for someone, loading, unloading or while waiting at traffic light signals.
.Use the car AC only when it is essential: Air conditioners consume about 20 to 25 percent of the total fuel consumed.
.Do not ride the clutch pedals: This causes slippage resulting in more fuel consumption and damage to the clutch parts.
.Servicing: Regular servicing of your car saves fuel consumption. It is necessary for improved performance.
.Fuel additives may be used to protect your engine against inconsistent and adulterated petrol.
