Birds need to have their nails and wings trimmed at regular intervals. Overgrown nails can become a hindrance for the bird and must be done away with at the earliest. Nails maybe considered to be overgrown if the toe is lifted off the ground while the bird stands on a flat surface.

One can clip nails with either a human nails clipper or dog nails clipper all depending on the bird size. Secure the bird to its perch and clip off the tip of its nail. Clip off small amounts of nail as this reduces accident chances.
