In the last para of the letter, you may if you wish stress once again anything that you have already written. It should motivate the reader into doing what you want him to do. It should also contain your farewell and the hope of hearing from the other party. The closure, like the salutation, is a matter of custom and a polite way of concluding a letter. Expressions used must suit the tone of the letter and match the salutations which will be based on the relationship between the parties. The closure must be simple. Business: In a business letter, about the most formal closing ever used today is: Thanking you, Yours faithfully, Sd Name of person Designation There is no need to write the name of the company or its address if you are using the official letter head. (This is when you have been â– using 'we' all along on the corporate level.) When you use the 'Dear Sir/ Madam' address, sign off as 'Yours faithfully'. In case you address the person by name as 'Dear Mr Sharma', sign off as 'Yours sincerely'. If writing a business letter in an individual capacity, and having used T throughout the letter, the closing should be: With best/kind regards, Yours sincerely. 'Yours obediently' should be kept only for those sick-leave letters to your school principal. Personal: Apersonal letter can have any closing remark, depending upon your relations with the person. Friends and peers: With lots of love, Yours sincerely, or Bye-bye for now, hope to see you soon, Use 'Yours lovingly' only in case you are writing to your parents. Elder relatives; With kind regards/Your (nephew/neice or whatever the relation is). If you do not wish to spell out the exact relationship, just write 'Yours affectionately' and sign your name below. Elders to children: It's time to close the letter. Now be good, take care. Convey my regards to your mom and dad.' Although in a personal letter, you do not write the name and designation as such, in a business letter, full name and title of the signing authority along with the name of the company should be clearly mentioned.
