Handling Subordinates when You have Just

This is a tricky situation because til I yesterday, you were one among them and today, all of a sudden, you are their senior. Treat them with grace and respect. You are likely to know their natures well. In fact, many of them may even have been your friends till you got promoted. Do not let your newfound authority go to your head and think you must maintain a stiff distance. At the same time, do not treat your friends like favoured people so that they are nicknamed your chamchas.

Be friendly, but don't be a pal now. Keep intimate friendships for after-office hours. Intimacy and friendliness are two different things. The former may find yourself in a binding situation which can be harmful to your ambitious career, while the other helps you in achieving further goals.
