Order fruit trees and bushes and start to prepare the soil for them.

Do not dig planting holes until just before you are ready forthem orthey will get water-logged.

Cuttings of currants and gooseberries can be taken this month, from this year's shoots.

Store apples in cool, slightly damp conditions. 

Pears prefer a drier atmosphere, and should not be stored with apples.

Prune currants (black, red and white) and gooseberries this month.

Spray peaches after leaf fall with copper or lime sulphur against peach leaf curl.

Cherries and plums which are producing too much wood and not enough fruit may benefit from root-pruning.

Remove fruited shoots from wall-trained morello cherries.
