Training Your Dog to Sit

To clicker train your dog to sit, you will only need a clicker and treat. Keep the clicker and treat close by while you casually observe your pooch. When his bottom touches the floor, click and offer the treat. Each time your dog sits, click and offer another treat. Your dog will get the idea that sitting earns him a click and a tasty morsel. If he stands to get the treat, simply increase the length of time that your dog sits before clicking and giving your dog a reward. Once your furry canine repeatedly sits, you can add the command, "Sit!"

You can repeat this exercise a few times a day to keep it fresh in your dog's mind.
