Teach your puppy to ring a small bell with its nose or paw to tell you it wants to go outside to do its business. Show the pup how to ring the bell before you take it outside or get it to ring the bell with a small treat. Do this every time. Soon your dog will always tell you when it needs to go with a signal you can understand.
