Whatever we eat or take in our body is converted to energy. Simply speaking, we eat for gaining energy. We use that energy for doing certain work or exercises. So, we expend energy through work only. But it happens that we do not use a portion of the energy, thus a portion of the food stays in the body and thus the extra fat or mass is created inside within our body. So, though overeating is truly a reason for being overweight and even obese, factors like this should also be considered. But there are some other weight gains that also cause us to be unhealthy as well. With the amount of health programs that are flooding the market these days, it should not take you long to determine the reasons for your weight gain as it can be contained of many factors.
Hypothyroidism
Hypothyroidism, is said to be the condition in which a person has an inactive or under active thyroid. The thyroid gland is positioned just below the voice box that is the Larynx. The thyroid is a vital organ to us as it secretes hormones, which standardize metabolism and subsequent growth. So, if the thyroid gland is inactive it poses a big problem for any person. That is because then the hormones created will be much less and so the prospect of the ongoing process of metabolism and growth is hindered. So, the growth rate slugs down causing many problems to the body and also due to the low rate of metabolism, extra fat or mass gets stored in the body leading to weight gain. So, basically, it is a condition that occurs due to deficient production of the thyroid hormone and thus it can also be called as a “disease”.
What may cause this Problem?
There may be certain distinct or clear-cut causes for this disease of Hypothyroidism. The lack of iodine is contributed to be a big reason for the cause of Hypothyroidism. It was believed to be the principle and common reason for the disease, in modern days that idea has changed. Because in modern day, in different urban countries, Hypothyroidism is mainly caused by the under activity of thyroid glands or the lack of hormones which are to be supplied by the thyroid gland itself.
Hypothyroidism also occurs to women, but in very less numbers. But it happens to them after a year of giving birth. To some women, this disease may be a lifelong process requiring a long treatment process. Sporadic inheritance may also cause the disease, but it only happens in rare cases. Interestingly, this disease is not limited to humans as, purebred dogs may also acquire Hypothyroidism.
So, you must be aware of Hypothyroidism through early symptoms like increased sensitivity to cold, regular fatigue, constipation, and weight gain etc. or it may be very harmful to your health and cause your body to be unhealthy, intolerant to many fatal diseases and basically lead to weight gain and obesity.
