Raingear Always pack raingear on top. You never know when you'll need it. A lightweight jacket is also a good idea. The weather on the other side of the world is always uncertain.
Roll, Don't Fold When packing clothing, roll them instead of folding them. This cuts down on wrinkles and ironing.
Saving Space by Stuffing Boots and Shoes To keep shoes/boots in shape when packing fill them with socks - it also saves space in the suitcase.
Rolling Into Pantyhose Traveling in cold weather requires sweaters or bulky flannels. Roll garment, and using the leg of a pair of pantyhose, stuff the item toward the foot. Voila! Instant tight container that doesn't take up any suitcase space. Obviously, the newer the pantyhose, the tighter the fit to the sweater.
Protect Against Lost Luggage Leave your name and address in your suitcase, just in case of loss.
Preventing a Liquid Disaste Always bring screw-top bottles, and/or put my shampoo, liquid soap, and lotions in small plastic bags. Then, if the bottles break you won't get all things soaked with shampoo!
Saving Your Clothes From Getting Creased To save your clothes getting creased, lay out a towel, then carefully lay your clothes flat on top of it. When you have laid out all your clothes, at one end place your toiletries bag, or a wrapped up pair of shoes, etc., and roll the towel around it. Then place in a barrel bag. When you unroll your clothes, they will come out crease-free.
Shoe Box Organizer A small plastic shoe box sized organizer box is invaluable in packing. On the way to your destination, pack it with whatever. On the way back, pack it with small breakables and things you don't want to get bent. It adds very little weight and keeps things better organized and unbroken.
Shoes Inside Shoes When packing shoes for a trip, I put my shoes inside my husband's shoes. My nice shoes are protected and they don't take up any extra space.
Small Drawstring Bags Take small drawstring bags to put clothes into e.g. underwear, t-shirts. It makes it a lot easier to find things without too much rummaging.
